Kindness coupled with deception. The city is under the control of the Patin Society, a group of powerful magically endowed aristocrats who use their seemingly kind and charitable acts to control the city's government.

This is a time of monopolies and barons. Deep in the earth, the fossilized remains of magical plants have become a fine dust, which can be used to boost ones' magical abilities like never before. The rich are the richest they've been in history and the poor/magicless are ignored and exploited. The line between the classes is cruel and sharp.

But in this city, the Patin Society helps the disadvantaged. Like olden times, magic users grant wishes to help people move through society. They give poor magic users free dust to get them on their feet. However, there is a catch.

Every person, every business the Patin Society helps must vote for the politicians the Patin Society specifies. In other words, through charity, bribes and the like, the Patin Society has a choke hold on the city's government. They control businesses, policemen, anything they can buy and the woman on top of it all, the Fairy Godmother is using her power to embezzle millions of dollars from the city's funds.

To stay on top, the Patin Society is known to strike at rival political parties with slander and violence. Under the seemingly caring persona of the Patin Society, murder and blackmail are rampant. It's kill or be killed in this great old city, and the righteous are few and far between.

So, are you a corrupt Patin Society boss? A minion? A rival politician or an average joe hell bent on exposing the government's corruption? Or more importantly, what fairy tale character are you going to spin off? 'Cause, ya know, that's what this rp is about.

Frankly friends, this rp is a twist on fairy tales. Try to humanize any character you plan to use, and think of them in the context of the story. If you need any help visualizing this world, read about Boss Tweed. The setting is a mismatch of historical periods. Castle like sky scrapers, primitive guns, horse and carriage... [NOOOPE] will provide some concept sketches. To help you get the idea, here's a list of fairy tale characters and suggestions about how they can be characterized > BMAFD Suggestions.

HEY BUDDIES! Ok, so school is over for both me and M and things have regressed back into normal life. I now have time to devote to this lovely project, thus I am reopening it. YEY! Oh, I also think I'm going to reopen the rp for new people to join. If you know anyone that is a good rper send them over. I'll leave it open for about a week and then it will be closed to new people. So let the magically enhanced fun begin.....again.

2008-03-12 [Crankychangeling]: I'm thinking they would be two separate characters but don't break them up. Meaning, if you take one then you should probably do the other as well.

2008-03-12 [Crankychangeling]: No, Anthros are out. They can turn into animals like my character Mr. Boots, or you can make them animalesque like M's character Wolfe. But nothing other then that. And as for Hansel and Gretel, they can be considered one character if you always rp them together. If you separate them they they will be considered two.
